Hoge Ogen: You’ve been Needing Sadness. A Research in Progress

Sunni Lamin Barrow (1998) is a multi award winning spoken word artist from The Gambia currently spreading roots in The Netherlands Poetry and Theater circuit. As an embodiment of all the parts of self, Sunni collects stories and experiences that involve his past and offers them in a multi disciplinary mediums to his audience.

Having identified himself as a citizen of the world, Sunni’s current works speak to an intellectual audience, thus dissecting what it means to be queer and African and what it encompasses to move from a land of one’s birth to a strange place that could potentially be called home, someday.

Sunni’s works are known for their honesty and heart heart encounters of change, longing, abandonment, surrender and subtlety in rebelliousness, exclusion, identity, the clash of wealth and power, mental health and the need for emerging communities where everyone aspires to be a citizen of the world.
